St. Michael's Church was built in the mid 12th century in Romaneque/Early Gothic style. Early Czech Protestants (Jan Hus) used it between 1400-1402. During the subsequent wave of Catholic-vs.-Protestant regious warfare, the building was ransacked, but renovated and used again between 1436-1602. In the 17th and 18th centuries it was used as a monastery. Most recently, in 1998, the building was used as a stage for St. Michael's Mystery, a powerfully interactive multimedia show depicting the 800 years of Prague's history.
